Gamer Takes IS101

Hello, my name is Audrey. I like to go by Ven most of the time online. I am in my early 20s. My current interests in life are to play games, livestream, and read/write novels.  I plan to be a radiology technician and possibly a radiologist in my distant future. Finding a school for becoming a radiologist is like finding a needle in a haystack.

My favorite games at the moment are Valorant, Pirate101, and Costume QuestValorant is a new obsession of mine to play almost every day. Since school has started for me, I have dialed back on how much I play by a lot. Pirate101 and Costume Quest are childhood nostalgic games for me, so I thoroughly enjoy playing them. I play Pirate101 when I feel like playing a grind type of style game. I have not completed the game because it takes a long time to finish, and I do not play the game every day because it is not as engaging as a game like Valorant. I play Costume Quest every Halloween to get into the mood of Halloween. I have completed Costume Quest numerous times; however, I love the game so much I do not care that I know the game front to back. When I livestreamed, myself playing these games, I do so on Twitch. I have earned a bit of money from Twitch.

I always been into creative outputs. With art, I have the most experience in as opposed to writing. However, I love writing. I have written so many drafts of stories. I am currently writing a novel and only eight chapters into it. I would love to be more consistent with my writing, however between no motivation and my busy life I cannot reach that goal yet. I prefer the romance genre in writing and reading.

My first impression of IS101 was I thought it would be extremely easier than what I am currently at in the course. A main reason why I thought it was going to be much easier than I expected was because I am a gamer, have built my own PC, and I am Generation Z. I have been around computers all my life. It is still an easier course than other classes I have to take. I just did not expect how much more I did not know about IS101. Also, how much more detail it goes into than I expected. For an example, I did not realize you could edit a viewer's ability to edit only certain parts of a document.

Because I livestream on Twitch, I have experience with tweaking different settings of my livestream. For an example, I have experience in changing my bitrate to give viewers a smoother and clearing watching experience. I also know how to use streaming software on my computer to an extent. I have not altered with every setting, like encoders. I have used the scenes, sources, audio mixers, and scene transitions significantly. I have attempted to separate audio channels; Spotify from my desktop audio. One day, I will get back to reattempting to successfully separate the two channels.

  1. Hmm... When I was gaming during my younger days, I had to go to an arcade or play on a home console and Internet was a novelty.

I am glad to hear IS101 is an easier course than your other classes even with the realization of how much you didn't know of IS101 has shown you so far.

Posting a video of yourself playing Apex Legends? Perhaps a video yourself doing LabSim homework? Probably won't make any money from that ;-p

    Welcome to IS101-3210, Fall 2025, Audrey ^_^

  2. Hey Ven,

Radiology technician seems like a nice and flexible field. I can understand your frustrations with finding a school that offers programs in your field. I’m at a crossroads myself with a college major. I was more of a gamer in my past years than now, but I still enjoy playing a game every now and then. So, you’re writing a novel, that’s impressive. I also enjoy reading, especially personal development books. IS101 was a bit challenging for me at the beginning as well. It’s very important for us to pay attention to detail in this class. It was great meeting you, Ven!

    1. Hey! My favorite Apex Legends character to play was Wattson. I had over 6k kills on her before I "retired" from the game. On Valorant, the game I play now, I main Reyna/Clove/Neon. I really play at least one character within the roles: Initiator, Controller, Duelist, and Sentinel.

  7. Hey Audrey! I also play Apex Legends for a while but I switched over to battle field 6 recently and it's pretty fun but I am slowly getting back in Apex as well as Valorant. What are your rarest gun skins you have on Valorant so far?

  9. Hello Audrey, Apex is a really fun game; I myself have played it for at least 300 hours of game time, but I never really got good enough to stream it how you are doing it.
